The treks to Machu picchu: the Inca Trail n' route of Salcantay ( the venerated region's mountain )
The
route to Machu picchu by Salcantay (
5 days / 4 nights )
1st
Day: Cusco / Mollepata – Soraypampa
We
pass by the hotel at 4 or 5 in the morning, we take the bus watching the
nice Apurimac valley and the
sunrise above the same Salcantay mountain range
( some ecological levels and pure nature ), up to arriving at Mollepata
at 8:00 environ. Then we walk up 4 hours ( or 3 hours
), watching, besides that, a great variety of
flora and animals; passing by several typical mountain towns ( in one of
them we have lunch ). After resting 1 hour we continue walking up
to Soraypampa
( 3400m - 11152 feet a s l.)
for dinner and to spend the night:
at that alttitude it's just high and blues.
2nd
day: Soraypampa- Colpabamba
We wake up early to have breakfast and continue hiking by Then we ascent among the Andes mountains over up to 4650 m - 15252 feet where we can observe Salkantay one of the highest peaks in Sout America ( blue, white and gray colors ). After that we ascent It a little bit more and begin to descent until Colcapampa ( tropical high jungle at 2850 - 9348 feet a s l.) to have lunch and camping
3rd
Day : Colpabamba – the
jungle beach
We wake up at 6:45 to have breakfast and continue by a Inca's archaelogy path among the great quantity of tropical nature elements and towns, until Lluscamayu ( we have lunch ). Then we walk 2 more hours up to a short village to camp.
4th Day : Santa Teresa - Hydroelctric central – "AGUAS CALIENTES" ( at foot of Machu picchu )
After
we have breakfast, we walk the last path to cross Urubamba
river and to take the
transportation ( truck ) to go towards the hydroelectric central of the
province where we have lunch.
Finally we take the train to "Aguas Calientes" , we rest in the hot springs or free time and the accommodation at hotel.
5th
Day :
MACHU PICCHU
The
visit is early, taking the bus up to the citadelle and enjoying

The Intihuatana " where the Sun is tied ". It can indicate the position of the zenith of the solstice.
Possibility of doing the ascension of Wayna Picchu (Machupicchu's peak to have the sight on it).
After
that: lunch and return by bus to Cuzco.

1st
Day After picking up from the hotels, we take the bus to the
82 km of the train rail ( Sacred Valley
and door of the Machu picchu zone at 2700 m - 8856 feet a s l.) where we begin
the trek up along the shore of Urubamba
river passing by Miska to taste
"chicha", up to Patallacta. Since this point we begin to ascent
2 hours up to Huayllabamba for looking over Vilcanota river on the other side of
the panorama. We spend the night.
2nd Day After breakfast we take the way up to Pacaymayo valley: we go up by a irregular path across the narrow valley and among the mountains. We pass by a very high opened mountain passage at 4200 m - 13776 feet a s l. We begin to see a great variety of ecological levels, contrasts of colors and landscapes, and then we descent to the valley where we camp.
3rd day After breakfast at 6:00, we begin this hard way, ascending up to another mountain passage at 3970 m - 13022 feet a s l.and enjoying a great variety of archaelogical Inca's remains since this point. Then we descent ( 300 m - 984 feet ) until Yanacocha lagoon and Sayacmarca complex. Finally, and other short ascention, we begin to go down by the low range towrds the jungle and we pass by two very organized and advanced Incas urban complex: Phuyupatamarca and WiñayWayna . Here we rest at camp and celebrate.
4th
Day
We
wake up early and take breakfast to begin the last path, descending,
passing by Inti Punko ( the Sun Gate )
and watching the nice sunrise over Machu
picchu peak. We arrive at Machu
picchu ( visit guided 2 hours and free some ones more ).
Lunch
in Aguas Calientes and return
to Cusco.
