The "Loncco" route is a stretch circuit by  villages in points that seem to remain between the Inca and colonial eras:
Traditions (such the parties), people, intensive agriculture, the breeding of cattle ( cows , horses and sheeps ), the good weather , gentle mountains, the extreme tranquility and
pure always green nature like an  oasis : intensive irrigation fields, full of underground water sources and archaeological steps of intensive agriculture

The
"lonccos" ( Former Arequipeñans who speak "loncco", a still existing dialect , a mixture of Spanish, Quechua and the  disappeared language  of the province: the Puquina (a pre-Inca local kingdom before the XIth century) .

*7:30-9:30 The way of the pre-inca terraces towards the springs of fresh water=walking by Sabandía valley, over

2380 m a s l-7806 feet a s l.  We make this walk by the back valley of the main one: Yumina where we find some

         fresh springs: "Lourdes"

Then we return to the departure point by car for beginning the trip by the other towns of this circuit; at first:

Characato, a typical flat countryside village surrounded by a extended area of agriculture fields and farms.

*9:45-10:45: The way to the desert or green out, towards the limits of the city, passing by Yarabamba: an oasis town

among the hills and arriving at Quequeña, an oasis at the mountain.

*10:45-11:30 The way to Sogay, one of the furthest, smallest and most well conserved town from the pre-inca and

colonial time in Arequipa region, located in the middle of a great extended territory of countryside.

*2:00-3:00 Lunch

*3:00-5:00 Return to Sogay walking

*7:00 Return and arrival at home or the downtown.

*8:00 Fun.

The other option after 9:30: Puquina-Churajón ( The second day )

It's possible of not taking this last tour and choising the left way, passing in this way through Mollebaya, another

village in the middle of a flat territory of countryside with a few houses , continuing the ascention up to Polobaya

separated by desert and very close to the  Pichu Pichu volcano (a large chain of  volcanoes to the eastest point )

with the opportunity to visit important pure pre-Inca remains and terraces .

A variation for walking more

The second day, it's possible to pass a nice morning taking a walk by Sabandía resort since another farm village:

Paucarpata, a disitrict on the top of a small hill which is completely covert by steps .

century.  We begin at 8:00 hour by the green way passing among so many green intensif agricultural fields and

terraces, for crossing the short river and arriving at the back valley ( Yumina and its springs ).

At least, we have lunch and descend to the main street.  The advantage of this tour is not  passing so much time by car.

Here there's a short view of Paucarpata: the beginning of this variation.

Recommendations :

light clothing, sun protection ( cream, glasses...) water, comfortable shoes &  camera,

mosquito repellent.

3 days TREKKING INTO THE COLCA CANYON

FIRST DAY:

We will begin this adventure picking up passengers from their hotels at 6am, to take a public bus to Cabanaconde (approx. 5 hours). Here we will have lunch in a turistic restaurant. Then we will begin our walk and arrive at the pampa San Miguel where we will have an impressive view of the fabulous Colca Canyon .

Then we will descend and after three and a half hours walking we will arrive at the first community of San Juan de Chuccho ( 2,200m-7216feet a s l ), descending approximately 1357m-4451 feet to the River Colca. We will explore the surroundings and then carry on walking one hour and a half more to the next community of Cosnirhua              (2,450m-8036 feet a s l ). Here we can enjoy our free time and shower with water naturally heated by the sun, as this place does not have electricity. Here we can rest, have dinner and spend our first night in comfortable cabins.

SECOND DAY:

We will get up at the time decided by the guide, and before having breakfast we will visit the surrounding countryside where we will see different types of crops as well as fruit orchards. We will then visit the nearby school, where you can teach the children and share your travellers' tales with them. We will also visit the hospital in a precarious construction zone. We will return to have breakfast and then continue our walk and visit other annexes and communities, such as the Malata annex ( 2,450m-8036 feet ), a place which stands out as the only annex with a 17 th century church, which still retains its colonial characteristics.

In this community we will meet people who speak Quechua, after three hours walking we will arrive at the place where we will make a stop for three hours, the "oasis"( 1,230m-4034 feet ).

Here we will enjoy a pool of 24 degrees centigrade and go for a walk around.  We will have lunch here and then continue our walk (approx 3 hours) uphill to the town of Cabanaconde , where we will spend the night in a hotel with private bathrooms and hot water. Later we will go for a short walk and then have dinner in a restaurant.

THIRD DAY:

We will get up at 6 am to have our breakfast. Then we will go to the Cruz del Condor reserve where we can see the Condor, considered to be a sacred bird and worshipped by the Incas. Here we can appreciate the fabulous and elegant fly of the condor, as well as the depth of the canyon.

After this wonderful spectacle we will take a local bus to Chivay, the most important town in the length of the valley. Then we will take a taxi to the medicinal thermal baths of La Calera (35 degrees centigrade) in which we can relax our muscles in the natural water. Later we will return to Chivay, and have lunch at a time previously coordinated with the group. We will return by public bus to the white city of Arequipa , arriving at approximately 6 pm, and so ending our service.
